Sankalp Impact

SANKALP EK PRAYAS SOCIETY endeavours to promote education among children in rural villages. SANKALP furnishes herewith an outcome of the study undertaken in order to quantitatively measure the improvement in academic standards of children.

The objective of the study was:
“Finding out the gap of academic knowledge standard between rural children covered by ‘SANKALP EK PRAYAS SOCIETY’ and “NOT COVERED BY SANKALP EK PRAYAS SOCIETY” to find out the IMPACT (if any) made by SANKALP in rural villages.”

The study used the tools/instruments for measuring the academic ability of children. The instruments were designed to test the children of Class I to V in their English, Hindi and Arithmetic Ability. Two different groups were selected (comprising of students from Class I to V, 12 from each class i.e. 60 in each group). The groups were as follows:

Group-A
60 student from SANKALP EK PRAYAS CENTRES in Class I to V (12 from each Class) (All such children were also going to Government run Schools in Villages and simultaneously covered by SANKALP).
Group-B
60 student from villages in Class I to V (12 from each Class) (All such children were also going to Government run Schools in Villages BUT NOT covered by SANKALP).

Pre Test Evaluation

Total 120 children (in two groups with a standard tools) were evaluated. In SANKALP, all such 60 students were those who were administered test on the first day in SANKALP centre in order to ensure their improvement (if any) as compared to children not covered in SANKALP can be attributed to the effort of SANKALP.

Post Test Evaluation

After 6 months, all such children were evaluated again with the tools.

The data gathered for both the groups were analyzed with an objective to find out If there significant change SANKALP is able to make through running such educational centres at Villages. This was done by analyzing the scores (Pre /Post) of control group (children covered by SANKALP) and uncontrolled group (Children not covered by SANKALP).

Results: Impact Analysis Of Sankalp Effort In Academic Improvement Of Rural Children
SANKALP is making significant impact in improving academic level of children.

  • SANKALP children reading ability in ENGLISH improved by 26.76% as compared to 13.60% of children not covered by SANKALP.
  • SANKALP children reading ability in HINDI improved by 33.80 % as compared to 07.46 % of children not covered by SANKALP.
  • SANKALP children reading ability in ARITHMETIC improved by 16.77 % as compared to 5.77 % of children not covered by SANKALP.

Percentage Improvement in Ability (Post (Final) Vs Pre Test) of children in Std 1 to 5, in English, Hindi and Arithmetic Knowledge.

Result:
There is significant impact SANKALP based educational intervention has been able to bring in the improving academic standards of children in rural areas. This can be viewed in quantitative terms with pre test- post test improvement percentage of CONTROL GROUP (student covered by SANKALP and going to Government Schools in rural areas) and UNCONTROL GROUP (Student NOT covered by SANKALP and going to Government Schools in rural areas.
