'Health Mela' under Garima Project is a strong initiative towards the overall health of adolescent girls
Under the Garima Project of Sankalp Ek Prayas Sanstha, Health Camp is an awareness and health care initiative aimed at making adolescents and teenagers of rural areas aware about health and connecting them to essential services. This camp is organized twice a year, in which permission is first obtained from the local hospital department.
Then the camp is conducted by coordinating with the schools. Various useful corners are created in the health camp – such as free sanitary pad distribution center, where menstrual hygiene products are provided to adolescents; workshop corner, where girls and boys are interacted with on topics such as menstrual hygiene, nutrition and personal hygiene; nutrition corner, in which information is given about prevention of malnutrition, anemia and sickle cell; and counseling corner, where children are given personal guidance to deal with mental, social and economic challenges.
Along with this, health checkup of adolescents and teenagers is also done in this camp and the identified children are provided proper support by the organization through regular follow-up.
